AUBURN – Claude W. Bell, aged 79, peacefully departed this life at his residence in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family on the afternoon of January 24, 2025. Claude’s journey began on October 10, 1945, in Jonesville, Virginia, born to the proud parents Jessie and Dorothy (Collins) Bell.

With a remarkable career that spanned over three decades, Claude made significant contributions to the Dana Corporation in Churubusco, retiring in 2005 after 31 years of dedicated service. His work ethic was admirable, embodying the spirit of commitment and integrity that many aspire to today.

Beyond his professional achievements, Claude was a man of many passions. He found joy in various activities—whether it was raising horses, taking fishing trips, or hitting the open road on his motorcycle. Claude thrived in nature, often relishing the time spent outdoors with family members. His love for adventure mirrored the zest for life he instilled in his children.

Family was central to Claude’s existence. His six children—Tammy (Craig) Bell-Bookout from Auburn, Angie (Gary) Gower of Butler, Patrick Bell from Cedarville, Wendy Bell from Garrett, Michael (Kristina) Bell also from Auburn, and Nate Wilondek of Butler—carry on his legacy. Claude’s 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren reflect his substantial family dynamic and the love that will continue to flourish through them.

Unfortunately, Claude’s journey through life was tinged with sorrow. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter named Amy Bell, and a son, Gregory Bell. He is also survived by his brother, Victor Bell. The loss of his siblings—Louise Call, Mable Robins, Brenda Bishop, Debra Schimf, and Charles Bell—added depth to the family’s sorrow, emphasizing the importance of family ties.

In honor of Claude’s life, memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Feller and Clark Funeral Home located at 1860 Center St, Auburn, IN. Reverend Ron Stambaugh will officiate the service. For those wishing to pay their respects, there will be a visitation hosted on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the same funeral home.
